This website is to document the restoration of our 1972 Chevelle Malibu. The car was purchase new by my parents and handed down to me when I turned 15. High school saw a few changes to the car when it wasn't cruising the streets with my buddies Jason and Danny. My father and I rebuilt the motor, we had the car painted with a new vinyl top, and I spent countless weekends installing no end of stereo equipment and building custom speaker boxes. The car served me well and made numerous trips back and forth to school during the college years. In 1999 we moved the Chevelle to a covered storage location to make room for a new house and two phenomenal children. The original plan was to keep the battery charged and in running condition, but things don't always go as planned. Fast forward to May of 2008... Storage costs had gone from $36/month in 1999 to the latest price increase of nearly $59/month. I just couldn't see putting over $700/year into the car with none of the driving rewards. Over the years we had received a few calls asking if we wanted to sell the car, but my lovely bride wouldn't hear of it. After some major re-arranging of the garage, a suitable space was allocated in the 3rd bay for the Chevelle to come home. The storage facility manager took an interest in our plight of how to get the car home and loaded it onto his drag car trailer for us one afternoon and dropped it at the end of our driveway. And so the adventure begins...
